Marietta Square Art Walk concludes the 2015 season with the 2nd annual “Encore Show”, a celebration of the award-winning artists from this year. Visitors can enjoy intown culture and small town charm viewing artwork at participating art galleries, museums, boutiques and restaurants on the Marietta Square from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6. The Art Walk’s “Best of Show” winners will be featured at four gallery sponsor locations. Printmaker Jamaal Barber will show his work at 2 Rules Fine Art, along with Steve and Casi Cline, who create mixed media art on paper. Marietta Square Artist’s Attic will feature the paintings of Rebecca Salcedo and McKenzie Snow, and dk Gallery will feature the mosaic art of Julie Mazzoni. Red Door Art Gallery & Studio will host painter Amanda Foss, as well as take silent auction bids for the interactive community painting created to raise money for Relay for Life.
An Award Party will start at 8:30 p.m. at 2 Rules Fine Art, and is open to the public. All of the 2015 “Best of Show” winners will be recognized, as well as the volunteers who donate their time to make Marietta Square Art Walk a unique, collaborative community event.
Marietta Square Art Walk kicks off a weekend celebration of art at the Marietta Square. Art galleries, museums, boutiques and restaurants host local artists and musicians from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4 during this free, self-guided tour. Visitors can stroll the brick sidewalks of the Marietta Square while enjoying the intown culture and small town charm this Southern city center is known for.
“The Sun & the Moon” is the title of a special exhibit at Marietta Square Artist’s Attic featuring local artists. The walls of dk Gallery will showcase the color pink for their show titled “Pretty in Pink.” The Art Walk Mystery theme at Red Door Art Gallery & Studio will be “Air.”
Red Door Art Gallery & Studio will also host an interactive community painting in the Beer Garden, to be auctioned off for a local charity. Pick up dinner to-go at award-winning restaurant The Marietta Local, from their special Art Walk “Walk-Around” menu, and enjoy drinks at Art Walk’s Beer Garden, in Atherton Square, located behind Cool Beans Coffee. The Beer Garden will host live music by Art Walk favorites Jennings Music and Tony Hall.
Art Walk visitors will get a sneak peek at the Art in the Park Festival as it sets up Friday night for the 3-day weekend. Several streets will close to make room for an incredible art display, including paintings, photography, pottery, graphic arts, sculptures, jewelry, and woodworking from 175 of the country’s finest artists.
Parking is free starting Friday night at 5:00 p.m. in the parking deck on Cherokee Street, across from the Earl Smith Strand Theatre and House of Lu, as well as the other two parking decks located off of Waddell Street and Lawrence Street. The newest Art Walk venue House of Lu will host music by Mike Fox, photographer Jennifer Ludlum, and mosaic artist Dillon Reed.
Congratulations to McKenzie Snow, winner of the “Best of Show” award in August. He will be given the opportunity to display his art in November at one of four local gallery sponsors: dk Gallery, Marietta Square Artist’s Attic, 2 Rules Fine Art and Red Door Art Gallery & Studio. Jill Williams won the “People’s Choice Award” last month, voted for by Art Walk guests online through Facebook.
Please Note: Several several streets will be closed due to setup of Marietta Art in the Park (Saturday, Sunday, Monday). Street closures include North Park, West Park, South Park, Lawrence, Roswell, and Atlanta Street. Follow signs and head straight for the parking decks, which are FREE beginning at 4:45pm.
